After Sunday’s epic fail and the mystifying form dip, it has been all about doing nothing this week… Which results in a few issues it seems:
- Boredom
- A lack of quality material to blog about
- An escalation of my obsession to check my iPhone every 30 seconds
- Indulgence of my inner hypercondriac
On this last point, I have been in full flight… With the help of Web MD, I have been going full gas on self diagnosing myself and then annoying medical professionals accordingly (they are however more than happy to accept my cash). Poor form MUST mean I am afflicted by a strain of zombie related virus, or Ebola. There was also that Middle East Respiratory virus and I had just been there, so I have been waiting for that to start, but also appears I am clear… Or maybe just in remission?
I am happy to report however that blood tests revealed that I don’t have diabetes (My initial diagnosis, strongly supported by Web MD), or any other blood related illness. I was also negative for Rabies, which was slightly disappointing… Maybe next time. Next up was the Chiropractor, as clearly my neck/spine/back must be a problem. He patiently listened and nodded and wrote stuff down (I love it when they write stuff down and nod, massive validation). He then looked up and said the one thing I didn’t want to hear:
“Sounds like you are overtrained and need a few days off”
Fuck… That’s not the magic bullet I was looking for!! I did get my moneys worth however when he made lots of stuff make massively large clicking and crunching noises using a variety of Chiro Kung Fu moves. I feel better already… And with a famous Maria sports massage to come on Thursday I will be ripping by the end of the week!
Turns out I am super shit at chilling out, so this feels like a very long week… I will be foaming at the mouth by the time 5 Passes arrives, which, really is exactly how its supposed to be…
Right – I am off to double check if I have Mad Cow disease!
I so know what you mean, I remember about 10 years ago training was crap. Race day was a mess, I fell of the pack early on the ski leg. I thought I had some sort of fatigue, genetic illness and all sorts of other problems. Turns out I just needed more sleep. Go figure.
Thats the one Flex!! You know it well…
I hate to say it…but I told you that!! (at least 3 days before the Chiropractor.) Next time just send the cheques directly to ‘she-who-knows’ and do what you’re told!!! It’s wonderful to do nothing and then relax afterwards, but it takes practise.
